-(2u+y)-3(-6y+2u) ugh I just want to go to bed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sleepyjess

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

First we need to distribute -1 in front of (2u+y)

OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

you just wannt go to be, do this http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=-%282u%2By%29-3%28-6y%2B2u%29 look at "alternate form" and have a good sleep

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Which that one is pretty easy since they are all positive to begin with, and we are only multiplying by -1. Pretty much with multiplying by -1, all you do is change the sign :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use simple multiplication. To get -2u-y+18y-6u then algebraically simple to get -8u + 17y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay I got (-2u-1y)(18y-6u)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now use foil

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

That is correct, other than that is multiplying instead of adding them together

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

After distributing, it should be (-2u - 1y) + (18y - 6u). Now just drop the parentheses and combine like terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2u-6u+18y-1y

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yep, now -2u - 6u? and 18y - 1y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-8u+17y

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you @sleepyjess so that's the answer?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yes, that is all. Thanks for not just taking the answer as the others gave you :D
