OpenStudy (anonymous):

@e.mccormick just need a confirmation would using Osmosis to rehydrate a fruit be considered an example? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcA_tskaq6w

One example is when you stay in water and your fingers start looking line prunes. This is a great example of osmosis. Although it looks as though your fingers are "shrinking", they are not, Your cells are actually expanding because they are too bloated with water. The water is actually trying to equilibriate itself by the process you're talking about - osmosis.

Why would they shrink if they were taking up water? that just doesn't make sense. The pruning of fingers is not actually due to osmosis. http://dujs.dartmouth.edu/news/why-do-our-fingers-get-pruney ---- A real life example you can see in the kitchen, is if you let rice sit in water, the grains will swell up as water moves into them.
