Hey guys I am writing a personal story that I am hoping to publish. I need help with somethings such as: 1: How many chapters should it have? 2: How many pages per chapter? 3: I don't want anyone editing the story for me, any tips on how I can edit it myself once I am done? Info you might need: 1: My story is not long but it also isn't short. It's a little in between. Kind of like a children's book but for teens. 2: I have seen books have as little as 4 pages (but with many chapters) or as much as 10 pages. 3: I have trust issues so I don't really want anyone I don't know editing.
addition to 3: yes I am aware I could ask someone I KNOW but I don't know anyone who is good with this. Also I don't know if the place I am publishing through has editing so I just want some tips.

(btw the story isn't actually person its just not school-related its like my own story so i didn't know what else to call it)

Well, since it's something that you're doing just for the heck of writing, then I see why you would consider it personal. ^.^ Because this is so, make it as long or as short as you feel is necessary. You shouldn't have to worry about it's length, just as long as it's kept interesting and meets the goals that you've set for it. I can completely relate with not wanting anyone one to edit it, but it almost always helps to get feedback from someone [even critics do this]. They don't have to tell you what to do, but sometimes, their suggestions can really help you. And as long as you feel comfortable and satisfied with what you've created, no one else's opinion really matters. Good Luck! ^.^
Oh! And Feel free to come back and tag me once you've written it and want suggestions, feedback, etc. That's IF you want to. lolz :3

Thanks this really helped!! Oh yeah feedback isn't a problem because I'm going to be having family members read my first draft and ask them for their opinions on what I should add, change, or take out. What I mean is like if I make a grammar mistake and stuff like that otherwise I'm actually excited to hear feedback.
Ahh, I understand. Yes, I consider English pretty easy to understand and write, yet still worry about whether my sentences are grammatically correct or not, especially when I use sentences that are more complex. ~Re-reading the piece \(\large\color{darkgray}{SLOWLY}\) really helps you catch the little mistakes in there. But, naturally, when we read through it over and over again, we accidently overlook some of those errors [Probably due to the fact that we start "reciting" the lines instead of "reading" them. LOLZ. Kinda an automatic response]. That's why I'd adivise you to: ~Let someone else read through it once you've done that yourself. They will be reading it for the first time, so they will do it slowly enough to catch any errors, etc. :3
Thanks a bunch!
No Problem! :3 I understand what you mean by parallel structure, yes. Lolz, not to worry, you've made yourself clear enough. c: ~I Believe that you CAN write with a consistent parallel structure, as long as verb tenses and setting(s) are kept in perspective. Also, if you can give something to signal a specific time to help your reader understand WHICH events happened to WHICH character at WHAT time in case certain events occurred at the same time but to the 2 different characters... like: [the Monday after Valentines, Joy found...] then later on [A few days after the fourteenth of that cold February, Max called..] /.\ I'm not sure if that made ANY sense.. lolz sorry cx Please let me know if it needs clarification. :3
