I have no idea, that's why I posted the question.

OpenStudy (yolo_king):

First of all do you know what public Service Journalism is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope. But I got the answer elsewhere. Thanks, though!

OpenStudy (yolo_king):

"So, what is public service journalism you may ask? Public service journalism is just what it sounds like. You, the journalist, are performing a service to the public by doing any number of tasks, like compiling a listing of all restaurants in a 20-mile radius or conducting a survey of people to see who they think is the best pediatrician or best wedding photographer in a city. Once businesses see that their efforts (or lack thereof) are being rewarded or noticed, they may try that much harder in dealing with the public, which means a better product. Be honest, who wouldn’t want doctors or lawyers trying a little harder just to be recognized as the best of the best in your town; it’s a win-win for everyone. Restaurant guides are another good example. Especially when you have a good food writer/critic who knows every place in town, their phone numbers, their owners and everything their is to know about those places. Throw in something special, like highlights of drink specials or off-the-menu items, and you have something going. By doing this, you are encouraging participation among your readers and you are getting them to pick up your publication. All you ask is that they pick up one issue and then you hope the content inside causes them to pick up another issue, followed by another issue and so on. Now this may not be as easy as it may sounds. Compiling a restaurant guide in a big city is arduous work and may take some time. If you do a survey, you may not get the response you wanted. But it does help and it does work. Don’t think this can work for your campus newspaper? Do something like best class to take or best campus place to eat or get a cup of coffee. Campus newspapers are constantly fighting to get readership and this could be a good way to encourage students to pick up your paper."
