OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

A yogurt shop offers 6 different flavors of frozen yogurt and 12 different toppings. How many choices are possible for a single serving of frozen yogurt with one topping? I'LL FAN AND MEDAL

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

I have 2 formulas but I don't know which one to use..

OpenStudy (igreen):

I think we use this one: \(\dfrac{n!}{r!(n - r)!}\)

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

Okay.. what goes where? like, what's n and what's r?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Oh, wait..that's wrong..

OpenStudy (igreen):

We just multiply 6 * 12.

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

why?

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

so it's 72?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, you got it.

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

But why don't you use the formula?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Because that formula is only for choosing things that are the same..like: 5 students out of a set of 20

OpenStudy (igreen):

But these are two different things..yogurt and pizza topping..

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

okay.. well when do you use \[\frac{ n! }{ (n-r)! }\]
