What is the area of the triangle?

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

where is the triangle? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its..Base times height divided by 2

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

To find the area of a triangle, multiply the base by the height, and then divide by 2. The division by 2 comes from the fact that a parallelogram can be divided into 2 triangles. For example, in the diagram to the left, the area of each triangle is equal to one-half the area of the parallelogram.

Need the diagram?

Okay so whats the base and the height?

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Here is what you should refer to. http://www.mathgoodies.com/lessons/Vol1/area_triangle.html

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

1/2 of you base * your height = area so for this one: 37 / 2 = 18.5 now multiply by your height of 12 18.5 * 12 =?? you tell me the answer :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

222?

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

that would be correct !!! (if my brain is working properly lol) ~Bree right down that formula for future reference!! 1/2 b*h = area of traingle b= base h=height

Thanks to all who replied, you guys are so helpful, i wish i could give you all medals!!

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

your welcome! any time :)
