@Conqueror @DarkMoonZ @ganeshie8 @King.Void. @sleepyjess

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

@sleepyhead314 ?

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

need help please!

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

No line underneath the < > thing means Open Hole Yes line underneath the < > thing means Closed Hole

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

y > means shade where the numbers are bigger = to the Right y < means shade where the numbers are smaller = to the Left

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

yes annnndddd

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

@sleepyhead314 d?

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

Not D because there the line under the < the picture is Open Holed

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

but d means it is less then or equal to :/

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

yes, picture says Opened Hole so you don't want the "or equal to" part

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

c?

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

that is a y < which would go to the Left but the picture is Not going to the Left

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

so c isnt it or it is?

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

where are you getting some of this from it says The solution to which inequality is shown? A. y + 5 > –2 B. y + 5 ≥ –2 C. y + 5 < –2 D. y + 5 ≤ –2

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

that's why i said D

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

@sleepyhead314 you have been reported for false information and not helping corretly

OpenStudy (7thgrader):

@sleepyhead314 it was d

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

D looks like this |dw:1425673105428:dw|

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, I can't see the image you linked... so I can't comment on that. However, sleepy did try to help. They may have made a msitake. I know I have in the past. Let's all focus on why and where a mistake was made and just get it right.

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

the image linked was this http://prntscr.com/6djiji

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If they said D was right in that pic, the school has a problem. It would need to be a solid circle for there to be any sort of equality... and you had A selected, which is fine.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

\(\ge\) means \(\bullet\hspace{-3pt}\longrightarrow\) \(\le\) means \(\longleftarrow\hspace{-3pt}\bullet\) \(\gt\) means \(\circ\hspace{-3pt}\longrightarrow\) \(\lt\) means \(\longleftarrow\hspace{-3pt}\circ\) Note that the directon of the arrow follows the direction of the inequality symbol. Also, if there is equality, then the circle is closed. You may also see these with [, ], (, and ). [ is the same as a solid dot and would go before a right arrow. ] would do left... \(\ge\) means \([\hspace{-2pt}\longrightarrow\) \(\le\) means \(\longleftarrow\hspace{-2pt}]\) \(\gt\) means \((\hspace{-3pt}\longrightarrow\) \(\lt\) means \(\longleftarrow\hspace{-3pt})\)
