How would you round a number to the nearest inch? Say like 19.84 ft. rounded to the nearest inch. Please explain it, because I have to do a whole chart!
Do you know how to convert feet to inches?
Like 1 foot = 12 inches?
Yes. To convert it into inches you divide the amount of feet by 12.
yeah, so then you would multiply 19.84 feet by 12 to convert it into inches
Not multiply, divide. :)
No it's multiply. Dividing 19.84 by 12 wouldn't even be 2 inches
Oh, yes, my bad.
I was thinking inches to feet.
It's okay, are you figuring it out cjhines?
Yea, I get what you guys are saying. But later on it says You must round all customary units to the nearest inch and meter to the nearest hundredths. REMEMBER – if you do the increase/decrease and get answer like 10.6 this does not translate to 10 feet 6 inches. That means 10.6 feet; the .6 is six tenths of a foot. It must be converted to inches." Would what you guys are telling me to do counter what the directions are? Or am I just thinking way too hard about it?
Well, when you round it to the nearest inch you (literally) would be rounding i to the nearest inch. So if your measurement was 10.6 what would you round it to?
You would round it to 10.7, but it's 10.6 feet. Not 10.6 inches. That's why i'm having trouble.
Or you would round to 11 lol
