Write the standard form of the line that passes through the given points. (7, -3) and (4, -8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@AlexandervonHumboldt2

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

standart form is ax+by=c where -a/b=slope

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

slope intercept is y=5/3x - 44/3

OpenStudy (triciaal):

you have 2 points you can find the slope then with one of the given points find the intercept next write the equation for any point (x, y) rearrange to put in the form Ax + By = C

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

simplify to standart: -5/3x+y=-44/3 5/3x-y=44/3 simlify: -5x-3y=44

OpenStudy (triciaal):

point -slope form y-y1 = m(x - x1) slope-intercept form y = m x + b b is the intercept m is the slope (x1, y1) and (x, y) are 2 points on that line

OpenStudy (triciaal):

@xo_kansasprincess_xo you know how to find the slope right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y2-y1/x2-x1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wowie ! this looks hard :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey isn't that how u find the slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hate math!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yup knew that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol im ok with math :P just like i don't like hate hate math i just like ehhhh with math ^U^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol I gotcha! It's probably my least favorite subject along with biology and English

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so is the answer like 5/3 or something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or like, (5,3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No idea!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol i think if u needa find the slope i think the answer is (5,3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is what I need to do. Write the standard form of the line that passes through the given points. (7, -3) and (4, -8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm does that mean u needa find the slope?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

ok ok ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to get off here now! I'll be back on in the morning. PM me please..!

OpenStudy (triciaal):

you have the right formula for the slope now you have the 2 points plug them in and calculate m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup i totally understand that.. jk no i don't hehe
