Romeo and Juliet. Help?

OpenStudy (love_to_love_you):

Both Romeo and Juliet seek out Friar Lawrence for counsel during their difficulties. How does he affect their decisions, and eventually, the outcome of the play? Write a short essay analyzing the cause-and-effect relationship between the two lovers and Friar Lawrence. You might want to address why Friar Lawrence marries the two in the first place, and the results of his advice throught the story. The introduction of your essay should include an attention-getter and thesis statement. The body of your essay should explore how and why Friar Lawrence orchestrates many of the developments in the plot. Close your essay with an overall conclusion, including a restatement of the thesis.

No I am not asking for answers. Just help adding more to my answer

Friar Lawrence was a fair minded man who wanted to help Romeo and Juliet, and also end the feud between the families. By marrying them he hoped to accomplish that, but since the marriage was a secret it didn't run smoothly. Romeo, trying his best to control his emotions, ended up in a duel that killed Juliet's cousin, causing him to be banished. Juliet was to marry Count Paris, but since she and Romeo were already married, she pretended to die, and the Friar was going to tell Romeo, but he found Juliet dead first. He went to the tomb and killed himself right as his lover woke, and as she saw him laying there she did the same. In a way the Friar almost caused this as he helped with the secret even though his intentions were good and did eventually settle the rivalry between the families.

Friar Lawrence played a HUGE part in the play, and maybe I read wrong, but I didn't see any of that in your answer. For starters, he is the one who gave Juliet the sleeping potion that made Romeo think she was dead.

I f I remember correctly he also had something to do with Romeo not knowing it was a sleeping potion. A message got delayed or something.

OpenStudy (love_to_love_you):

OpenStudy (love_to_love_you):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In Act IV, Scene 1, Juliet cries, “O, bid me leap, rather than marry Paris . . . How does he affect their decisions, and eventually, the outcome of the play? Write an essay analyzing the cause-and-effect relationship between the two lovers and Friar Lawrence.

OpenStudy (love_to_love_you):

Yeah it's really messed up. You posted the same thing I asked haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Friar Lawrence affected their decisions because he encouraged them to be together. He affected the outcome of the play because he allowed them to think of the idea of creating a potion to temporarily go to sleep and ultimately, when this failed, proved to be the death of both Romeo and Juliet. Many people say the Friar is at fault for his death.

Thanks for the help! I'll just write my own thing though. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For your attention getter, you could accursed him of causing tragedy and fueling a feud further. Then use the body of your essay to prove this, then show his good intentions, then argue that the whole situation was a big bad mistake. How he brought them together, and ultimately separated them. It is interesting and keeps the reader curious as to what you will say next.
