Need help! Just want confirmation on what i think I have to do!

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

do as you may and then when done finalize it as you can and then rest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think i just have to ad the numbers right? So 0.60m+0.25m=0.85m 18.95+4.90=23.85 c=0.85m+23.85

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

es, I did the math, and you are correct :)

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

*yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you! One more question is that okay?

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

Yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's a different question saved in the same png

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think to find the price after 8 years I replace t with 8 and solve, I got $487

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

487.36 yes, rounded up to 487

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

yes that is right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it wants me to round to the nearest dollar so $487.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how do I find the current price?

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

yes your still correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can see the substituting t for 1 is the price after 1 year, but I don't know how to get the current price

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

sub in 0 for t ?? Not 100% sure

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

the current price would be just to ignore the exponent 400 * 1.025

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well.... 8 years from today means t = 8 so.. so today is year well... is not even a year, because that'd be 365 days later today's year is 0, thus t = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then the price would ... OH! 400! because anything with an exponent of 0 is automatically 1!

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

wait no @jdoe0001 is correct, my bad lol

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

and yep you got it!! @AJLYAMBER96

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so $400 right? just what it says in the problem?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap well not quite anything, but close, I mean \(\Large 0^1 \ne 1\) =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks!!! uhm.. Idk who to give the best response to?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I agree ^^ current is 400

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

whomever you want lol :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Waaiiitt 1 moorreeee lol I pretty much knew what to do this entire test, just didn't want to get the answers wrong

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

ok :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x)=(1/4) ^x x values are -2,-1,0,1,2 I literally just plug in right? First answer if plugging in -2 would be.... wait, okay so how would I multply this? because the exponent is a negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-1/4)(-1/4)????

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

do you have answer choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it's a graph

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

hmm, im not 100% sure but I would prolly end up doing this the way you are (-1/4)(-1/4) lol @e.mccormick

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@alyssa_xo any ideas?

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

a^-x=1/a^x so \(\dfrac{1}{4}^-2=\dfrac{1}{\dfrac{1}{4}^2}=\dfrac{1}{\dfrac{1}{16}}=16\)

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

alternatively, rewrite 1/4 as 4^-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I went to mathway sadly. It gave 16. I'm right because (1/4)(1/4) is 1/16, the negative sign 1/-16 make it a positive 16/1=16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol well then.
