Fan and medal PLEASE Which of the following statements best describes the structure and function of a carbohydrate? Carbohydrates are large molecules made up of monosaccharides and are used by organisms for energy storage. Carbohydrates are made up of starchy monomers and are used for structure, protection, and reproduction. Carbohydrates are long, winding molecules made up of amino acids and are important in the synthesis of fats and hormones. Carbohydrates are made up of sucrose molecules that are important for transportation and protein synthesis.

waht do u know about this q?
what*
Carbohydrates Store Glucose as an energy reserve. Sometime providiing the structural support for cells. Its Monomer is Monosacchride. And its an example of starch, glycogen, and cellulose
I guess the last one .. That is more satisfying to the question .
yep so you have an idea the options are not as good but you can eliminate some easily
Carbohydrates are large molecules made up of monosaccharides and are used by organisms for energy storage. - fits Carbohydrates are made up of starchy monomers and are used for structure, protection, and reproduction. erm not really Carbohydrates are long, winding molecules made up of amino acids and are important in the synthesis of fats and hormones. absolutely not Carbohydrates are made up of sucrose molecules that are important for transportation and protein synthesis. not really
starchy monomers is more or less correct but and being a structural component is right but protection & reproduction not really - well in terms of providing energy then yes amino acids are monomers of proteins thus that option is automatically eliminated saying sucrose molecules is not too correct, because to make energy for transportation & protein synthesis we need glucose not sucrose, & carbohydrates are generally made of monomers of whatever kind that is
sucrose is not a monomer
sucrose is monomer. A monomer is the single unit of a molecule that can form polymers. Most sugars can form polymers. It is a disaccharide though, so maybe you meant to say it is not a monosaccharide.
I should say sucrose can be a monomer.
yeah :3 sorry
it can be but its not a metabolic sugar which why the functions it was relating to dont seem to be exactly right
broken down sucrose is more of a use than sucrose as a disaccharide as far as i know
The options suck, you're right about that. I don't think sucrose stays in its normal, disaccharide state in biological systems. It is either polymerized, broken down and metabolized, or broken down and used to make other polysaccharides.
yeah which why options suck
