Ladies and gents I have another question to be answered :D Identify the quadratic function from the choices below whose parabola opens upwards. A) y=3x-5x^2 B) y= 4x^2-6x-2 C) y=7x-3x^2+7 D) y=100-4x^2 Help me <3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know equation of parabola.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's all that it gave me for the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A quadratic equation is an equation in the form of y=ax^2+bx+c. Which one(s) of those given are in that form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B correct :D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@YesThisIsDog please reread the question.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

if the quadratic opens upwards, the coefficient of x^2 is positive.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@muhammad9t5 I did read the question. I am not going to give a direct answer. I was planning to walk her through the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it not B.? im sorry im confused im terrible at math :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nono. Take what Welsh said into consideration. If the coefficient of x^2 is positive, then the parabola opens upwards. Its easy to put the quadratic into a graphing calculator. If you dont have one on you, go to https://www.desmos.com/calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

emm c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was trying to follow the formula that you had given me but I guess im more confused than before

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The coefficient of C is a negative. Look at B again ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dont plug anything into the equation I gave you. That is just the form a quadratic equation needs to be in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gahhhhh ),: I rly thought the correct answer was B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, since B is in the proper format, and the coefficient is positive, then B is the correct answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aghhh u rly confused me lol xD thank you I was right yayyy! I was just rly unconfident with saying so.
