What is the nth term of the sequence? 4, –1, –6, –11, … A. 5n – 9 B. n + 3 C. –5n + 9 D. –5n + 4

rishavraj (rishavraj):

a_1 = 4 d = -5 plug it in tht equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u give me the equation

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

also keep in mind the CoC, in regards to tests

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

if you're taking a test, you should know better

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im just asking for help. jeez.

rishavraj (rishavraj):

\[a_n = a_1 + (n - 1)\]

OpenStudy (amorfide):

let n be the term number, so term 1 term 2 term 3 you know that it is decreasing by 5 so we write the 5 times table but it is decreasing so we make them all negative and then write the sequence underneath |dw:1426543547416:dw| to get from n to the number in the 5 times tables we multiply by -5 for example n=1 to get from 1 to -5 we multiply by -5 compare -5 and the first term 4 what is the difference? 4--5=4+5=9 the difference is 9 do the same for n=2 to get from 2 to -10 we multiply by -5 compare -10 and -1 the difference is 9 so we are multiplying n by -5, and then adding on 9 you can write the equation yourself to make sure you understand
