Given the arithmetic sequence an = -3 + 9(n - 1), what is the domain for n? (A) All integers where n ≥ 1 (B) All integers (C) All integers where n ≥ 0 (D) All integers where n > 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tom982, would you be able to help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure. Do you know what the domain is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I do not. Which is probably why I dont know how to answer this. Could you explain what it is please ? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry for the delay, didn't realise you'd replied. The domain is all of the numbers we can plug into a function, the range is all the numbers we get out of it. Take f(x)=x^2 for example, as we haven't specified what x can be between, the domain is all of the real numbers R. The range is the numbers we can get out of it, well we know that whatever number we put into this function will result in a positive number, so we know the range is x<=0. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, x>=0, my bad.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, yes, that makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So going back to our sequence, what numbers can we put into this sequence?
