oh yeah i see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just read this part Compassionate that is an awful thing to say. Ambassadors are not "dogs that act on command", ambassadors are here to welcome new users. In the words of Owlfred: "Ambassadors reach out to new users in chat, their first questions, and via private messages to welcome them to the site. They explain the norms of our community, introduce the moderators and the administrators, and act as a support for new users. Each website has its own culture, and OpenStudy is no different. Ambassadors help ease that awkward transition from knowing no one at the party to making friends. They explain where the chat is, and point them towards users they might find helpful." (have a read: http://blog.openstudy.com/2012/03/23/openstudys-ambassador-program/ ) On the other hand moderators are here to basically help keep the peace, remove any spam content and make sure users adhere to the code of conduct - which indeed means we have the ability to ban, warn etc.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Moderators are the ones that are mature and 18+ users that well, moderate os. They can delete inappropriate posts and many more. When you do the "Report Abuse", it goes straight to the mods.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

You basically copied what was in the post I provided @Prosper2win . Also, you need to cite that. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you both of you

Ambassadors are representatives of OpenStudy. We answer questions from new users. We welcome and greet users. It's our job to be the embodiment of OpenStudy's ideologies. Before I go any further, there are strict requirements you must meet. ◘ Be thirteen or older ◘ Have a form of ID - excluding a birth certificate ◘ Have no serious offenses on your record ◘ If you have serious offenses, an additional process may be required ◘ Have read the Code of Conduct and Terms, and understand the rules Do you meet these requirements? If so, then please read the next part of the process. There are some key behaviors that Ambassadors must express ◘ As an Ambassador, you agree to always be kind and understanding ◘ As an Ambassador you should let users know you appreciate them ◘ Congratulate and reward positive behavior, and discourage negative behavior ◘ Lead by example! ◘ Respect the staff - never talk ill of OpenStudy ◘ Never disclose personal information if shared with you Do you feel like Ambassadorship is something you would want to do? Do you want a bright future with OpenStudy? Then become an Ambassador! [NOTE: The application, or form, is often subject to change. A message will be posted in either the Ambassador Group or OpenStudy Feedback with details on how to submit an application] You can contact @e.mccormick , @thomaster , @shrutipande9 @ashleyisakitty or @hartnn for additional Ambassador opportunities. form link: https://docs.google.com/a/openstudy.com/forms/d/14kZejqKJuYBxuRCxCjwa-rAUtScOYB6KTlrZDmYLTGM/viewform http://blog.openstudy.com/2014/01/30/openstudys-diplomatic-corps/

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

How to become a Moderator: First rule: You must be 18+, due to legal issues. Second rule: You have to be, and act mature. Then you have to win the respect of this community through interaction, knowledge and the ability to interact and intervene in an appropriate manner. It is in big part based on participation, courtesy and respect. The most important thing is that you let the administrators and moderators know that you can see things going awry, and that you are willing to make some effort to solve/prevent it. And certainly NOT in a way like messaging them about how bad you want to be a moderator (this will only work contradictory), but they have to notice that you are up for the job. Then, when they decide they need more moderators, you might get asked. ◘ Being on the site for a fair amount of time. (usually more than 6 months) ◘ Be a good and active user on the site ◘ Having a squeaky clean abuse record. ◘ Have good rapport with fellow users. ◘ Having a good sense of justice. ◘ Being an expert in some field. Most of the mods are math geniuses. But any subject would suffice. ◘ Doing a great job in the ambassador program. In the ambassador training period, you'll learn how the rules work on OpenStudy and you'll learn how to make the right decisions. ◘ Hope you'll get lucky when they decide to add more moderators! ~thomaster
