OpenStudy (love_ranaa):

Verbal irony is when what is said is opposite than the literal meaning. It is also when someone uses words to say something that actually means the opposite of their feeling like for example: I heard today we have to stay in the sun for an extra hour. Boy, that sounds fun! Some might compare it to sarcasm

OpenStudy (love_ranaa):

Basically, verbal irony is a figure of speech in which what is said is the opposite of what is meant
