Help please The x-intercept of a line is -5 and the y-intercept of the line is -2. What is the equation of the line? y= -5/2x - 5 y= 2/5x + 2 y= 5/2x - 2 y= -2/5x - 2

OpenStudy (precal):

y intercept is -2 so it is one of the last two

I need help with x

@precal can you help with x

The question gave you 2 points therefore you can construct the equation y=mx+b. x-int point is (-5,0) and the y-int is (0,-2) if you use the formula for slope which is rise/run or (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) which in your case it should be ((-2)-(0))/(0-(-5)) you can get the slope - which in your case is -2/5 and since you know your y-int = b, the answer is clearly the last one.
