Which words in these sentences are used as puns? 1. An English teacher is like a judge in that she hands out long sentences. 2. A man's home is his castle, in a manor of speaking.
@ayee_diamond what do you think? got any guesses?
I have no idea so please help? @TwilightRain1
well, i'm not allowed to just give you the answer; i'm supposed to help you find it. look at the second sentence, since i think its easier. which word in it is spelled wrong for its use?
In the first sentence i was thinking "jungle" and second one "castle" @TwilightRain1
so, for the second one, yes, castle is involved, but it isn't the actual pun word. there is another word in the sentence that means castle.
Man home @TwilightRain1
the word is manor http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/manor?s=t. if the sentence were not a pun, it would look like this: "A man's home is his castle, in a manner of speaking." however, since it is a pun, they changed manner to manor, which means castle
and for the first one, the word sentences has two meanings http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sentences?s=t. one of them refers to sentences like the kind you write, the other is a sentence that a judge gives a criminal. that makes it a pun @ayee_diamond and medals are appreciated ;)
