A six sided die is rolled. What is the probability that either a 4 or 5 is rolled? 1/6 1/3 1/4 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, that is two numbers out of 6 an that is 2/6...now simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@LGumboymath234 its not 2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

couldent have said it better @jcbako

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then 1/ 6

OpenStudy (amorfide):

the probability for a 4 is 1/6 probability for a 5 is 1/6 you want 4 or 5 so you add the probabilities

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No 1/4 You are taking 2 numbers from 6

OpenStudy (amorfide):

I made a typo in my last comment, I said multiplied at the end, that should be add

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There ya go :)

OpenStudy (amorfide):

you know that the probability to get any single number on a dice has the same probability since you want one number from 6 the probability is 1/6 since this is true that the probability is equal for all rolls then when it asks for probability for 4 OR 5 then you add the probabilities if it said 4 AND 5 you would multiply the probabilities so if I wanted 2 or 3 from the dice the probability would be 1/6 add 1/6 which is 2/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

I do not know why I typed 1/4, I meant 1/3
