OpenStudy (logan13):

What is the value of the expression –c + d when c = –3.5 and d = –12.8? A. –9.3 B. 15.3 C. 16.3 D. –16.3

OpenStudy (pinklion23):

ill help

OpenStudy (pinklion23):

silly just use a negative calculator from online and get your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug in the numbers -(-3.5)+(-12.8).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

two negatives equal a positive and a positive and a negative equal a negative. so its 3.5-12.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is -9.3

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Whenever there is a negative applied to a negative number is will become postive. For example \(\sf\Large -(-3) = +3\) Similarly when you add a positive number with a negative number, you will have to subtrac the two numbers. For example \(\sf 5+(-4)=5-4\) And now your question has given you that \(\sf c=-3.5 \\d=-12.8\) And they want you to find \(\sf -c+d\) So lets plug in the numbers \(\sf -c+d\) \(\sf -(\color{red}{-3.5})+(\color{red}{-12.8})\) So solve that given what I gave you above :) @logan13
