what is dipole movement? and allignment of polar molecules in it?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

a dipole is the occurrence of equal and opposite charges in close proximity. an example, of a polar molecule, which is what i think you re referring to is the H2O molecule. the dipole has what is called a dipole moment, which points from the centre of the -ve charge within the arrangement to the centre of the +ve charge. in an electric field, the dipole will line up such that the dipole moment points along the eletric field. water molecules stick together because of the dipole dipole bonding.
