In a standard dictionary, where can you find the key to pronunciation marks? A. In an appendix B. In the front of the dictionary C. At the bottom of each page D. Within the definitions
Any ideas?
I was goin with either A or B , wat u think?
I'm thinkin' A, just because when I look at the front of a dictionary, I don't see a pronunciation key.
Haha, you're not going to believe this, but actually the correct answer is (b) - at the bottom of each page. I promise you: check the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, or the Chambers 21st Century Dictionary, and you will see all the pronunciation keys along the bottom of each page. (a) is wrong: what you find within each definition is not the key to pronunciation marks, but the phonetic spelling for the word in question. (c) is wrong: at the front of the dictionary you will find things like a key to punctuation (not pronunciation) marks. (d) is wrong: the appendix tends to contain things like foreign phrases or proper nouns. Obviously not 100% of dictionaries will follow this rule
So the answer is C
I guess so
