Can someone help me for a medal and fan?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Factor completely 5x2 + 20x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To start, 5x^2 + 20x can by simplified by taking out a 5 -> 5(x^2+4x). But you can also take out an x so the final answer would be 5x(x+4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thanks. Can you help with a quick one also?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure

I always get confused with the whole finding the greatest common factor thing, so can you tell me what the greatest common factor of 8 and 36 is? Is it 8, 4, or 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or is it 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, wait forget about the 8. Just realized 8 doesn't go into 36.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, so the answer would be 4. 8 goes into 8 but not 36, 7 goes into neither of them, 6 goes into 36 but not 8 ... so for finding the GCF all you're looking for is the largest number that goes into both numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thanks.
