Can someone be nice enough to help me with 8 questions please anyone if you are willing to help me

OpenStudy (matt101):

I can help

OpenStudy (cookielate):

thank you I'll post the first question

OpenStudy (cookielate):

Translate XYZ along AB. Label the image of the triangle with X,Y, and Z

OpenStudy (cookielate):

|dw:1427036419887:dw| It looks like this

OpenStudy (cookielate):

I don't get how to do this ??

OpenStudy (matt101):

Translate is just a fancy word for move. AB is pointing towards the upper right, so all you need to do is redraw the exact same triangle to the upper right of the one you have now, a distance AB away.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

so I have to draw another triangle to AB

OpenStudy (cookielate):

|dw:1427036850929:dw|

OpenStudy (matt101):

No - you're drawing the exact same triangle XYZ, but in a new location. And how do you know where this new location is? Using AB. The distance your new triangle is from your first triangle is the length of AB. For example, if AB is 10 cm long, every point on your new triangle is 10 cm away from the corresponding point on your first triangle. The direction of your new triangle relative to your first triangle is determined by the direction AB is pointing (otherwise you could draw a triangle 10 cm away in any direction). AB is pointing to the upper right (having an angle would be more specific but I don't think it matters here), so your new triangle is going to be 10 cm away from and to the upper right of your first triangle. Does that make more sense?

OpenStudy (cookielate):

kind of confusing but I think your meaning to draw a triangle below AB |dw:1427037698048:dw|

OpenStudy (cookielate):

@matt101

OpenStudy (matt101):

Can you tell me why you think the triangle should be below AB? Not saying you're right or wrong, just want to know the thought process!

OpenStudy (cookielate):

because XYZ its being translated along AB I think Im not sure

OpenStudy (matt101):

Yes XYZ is being translated along AB - but why did you choose to draw the triangle below AB instead of for example above it or to the right of it?

OpenStudy (cookielate):

Idk why choose to draw it below im so dum thats why ughh -_- i wish i was smart

OpenStudy (cookielate):

@matt101

OpenStudy (matt101):

Hey!

OpenStudy (matt101):

You're just learning something new! Read carefully what I wrote in my answer before and tell me if there's something specific you don't understand.

OpenStudy (matt101):

AB is just telling you where to draw your new triangle. It doesn't need to be part of the drawing itself (but I'll include it here to help you understand). Translate means move. You're taking your triangle XYZ and moving it to a new position. AB tells you what that new position is. |dw:1427039114157:dw|
