I need some help (attached below)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

according to the table, can you tell me the number of miles being ran every hour? (divide number of miles, by number of hours --- (and for this you can choose any point))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

45 @SolomonZelman right?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yes

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

so you so far have (can phrase it the following way) \(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle {\rm number~of~miles} ={\rm number~of~hours}\times45 }\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

saying, that when you multiply the number of hours times any number (say 2, 3 or say x) you get 45*2 or 45*3 or 45*4 number of miles. (using * as multiplication sign)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

so, what you can do is make the number of hours - x and the number of miles - y

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

then write it as an equation (with number of hours x and number of miles y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This kind of stuff is just usually hard for me.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

did you get the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So Y = 45 * X or Y = 45x

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yes, \(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle y=45x }\) is right.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

any questions ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I think thats about it. Thank you.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Sure... you are always welcome!
