OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

Is this correct

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

remember you are NOT changing the equation 2.

OpenStudy (kaley246):

no it is not correct

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So, you can eliminate some options, just based on that.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

And yes it is not correct -:( (Which we will work on)

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

its c or do right? one of those?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I was just trying to point implicitly why A is incorrect. (Because they changed the equation 2.) Also don't think that there is really a way to obtain such equation 2 as in option a.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Anyway, so your equation 2 must be 7x-8y=6. (do you agree ?)

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

yes

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Now, you are adding the following to things. (Eq stands for equation) \(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle ( }\)Eq 2, after it is multiplied times 1\(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle ) }\) \(\large\color{blue}{ \displaystyle + }\) \(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle ( }\)Eq 1\(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle ) }\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

this addition is going to be your new first equation.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

multiplying [the 2nd Eq] times 1 does or does NOT change the Eq 2 ?

OpenStudy (kaley246):

@SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

bruh @kaley246 you're supposed to do this as a new question not on someone else's

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

im working here im sorry

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

factor out of 3 and divide by 3, then add 7 to both sides to complete the square.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

oh well.... anyway pierce. to your Q.

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

i have to leave the library in like 2 minutes but when i get home ill come back on, but is the answer to this D??

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

it is not D.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

After reading the question carefully, you will understand that your new 1st equation is just the addition of the 1st and the 2nd equation. (while, again, the 2nd equation is kept the same)

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

ill be back in like 10 minutes okay? ill tag you when im back!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

If I be online.

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

@SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

is the answer b?

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

@blake57roger
