Toni is riding her bicycle at a constant speed of 18 kilometers per hour. At this rate, how many hours will it take her to ride 24 kilometers? Use the distance formula d = rt. a. 1 1/3 b. 1 1/2 c. 1 2/3 d. 1 3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, plug the numbers in the equation. Distance is 24k, rate is 18k, time is 60 minutes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, I take that back, time isn't 60 minutes, I was getting ahead of myself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here, I'm going to tell you the answer and maybe this helps, okay? And I WAS right about time, it's 60 mins.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is A.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you need to multiply the correct time with your rate (18) to equal the distance (24)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

couldnt you just divide 24 by 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 and one 3rd of 18 is is 24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could, but the question was use d =rt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't want to do it a different way, in case they needed to write out their work. But the way you did it is perfectly fine as well.

Hope that helps Ali :)
