OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):
It is past, but it is not just past tense. Past perfect tense is formed by taking the past participle of the word (eaten, in this case) and adding had to it. So, had eaten is past perfect.
OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):
Does that make sense?
