Will give medal. Tom and Julio work two different mail routes. Tom's mail route starts at the mail office and goes through Hampton to Via Sierra. Julio's route goes directly from the mail office to Via Sierra. The figure below shows the distances they cover on their routes: Which simplified expression can be used to find the difference in the number of miles between Tom's route and Julio's route?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

Tom's route has a distance \[2x^2 -1 + 3x + 5 \] you need to simplify this my collecting like terms Julio's route has a distance \[2x^2 + 7\] the difference in the lengths is found by subtracting Tom - Julio \[2x^2 + 3x + 4 -(2x^2 + 7) = ?\] distribute the -1 infront of the brackets and then collect like terms.
