The scatter plot shows the linear model for Variable A and Variable B.
What is a possible value for Variable A when Variable B is 3?
???

No need to be sorry, its all good! The least square line is given, can you see that?
Miracrown (miracrown):
So first we need to find the equation of that line
let x be A and y be B
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
Ok
Miracrown (miracrown):
x => variable A
y = variable B
this line should have the following form
\[y \space = mx \space+b\]
where m = slope and b = y intercept
So first of all, can you tell me what is b = ?
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
9?

now m... since this line is decreasing we certainly have a negative slope
right?
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
Yup yup
Miracrown (miracrown):
and we know that m = rise/run ?
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
Yup yup
Miracrown (miracrown):
So what is rise/run?

Wouldn't we rise 11 and run 11?
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
I think because it starts from 11 to 11 right?
Miracrown (miracrown):
Yes Yes
Miracrown (miracrown):
but should be negative since it is decreasing thus ...
OpenStudy (twizttiez):

@Miracrown you there?
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
Uhmmmm o.o
Miracrown (miracrown):
Sorry, the lag is real ;-;
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
I know keeps messing up for me too
Miracrown (miracrown):
Anyhow, you were correct 11 to 11 but should be negative since
it is decreasing thus ..
\[m \space = - \frac{11 }{ 11 } \space = -1\]
so m = -1

So -1 is my answer?
Miracrown (miracrown):
Nope, not yet. There's still 1 more step 2 go ... So the equation is now: \[y \space = -x + 11\]
Lets go back to the original question now ...
B ---> y and
A ---> x
we plug y = 3 and solve for x that would give us the value of A
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
3=-1+11?
Miracrown (miracrown):
-1 + 11 does not = 3 check your calculations
OpenStudy (twizttiez):
Nvm is it 8?
