OpenStudy (ajanijones):

Good morning Medals please help. Evaluate. Let x = 1. http://static.k12.com/bank_packages/files/media/mathml_b68748eccadb24c306aa757e44f1e7ca9ed17ae0_1.gif Enter the answer in lowest terms.

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Since the problem says that x=1, every time you see x in the equation, put a 1 in. What do you get when you do that?

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

Not sure.

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

okay 1 second

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Sure.

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

2/11

OpenStudy (ajanijones):

is that my answer?

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

When we plug the 1's in, this is what the equation should look like. \[\frac{ 4\times1\div(5-3) }{ 2\times1\times5+9\times1 }\]According to PEMDAS, we're going to do the multiplication first. What's 4x1, 2x1,and 9x1?

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

2/11 wasn't quite the right answer. I'll walk you through the problem, if you like.

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

You're really close though. The 2 is right, but the 11 isn't

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

So we really only need to do the bottom part. \[2\times1\times5+9\times1\]
