Explain how to form a linear combination to eliminate the variable y for this system. 2x - 3y = 3 5x + 2y = 17 A) Multiply the first equation by 2 and the second equation by 3. B) Multiply the first equation by −5 and the second equation by 2. C) Multiply the first equation by −2 and the second equation by 3. D) Multiply the first equation by 2 and the second equation by −3.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

the aim is to make the coefficient of y the same ( but different sign) so that adding the 2 equations will eliminate the term in y

@cwrw238 just checking working thanks

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

@aakash_kachhal please dont give direct answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiplying first by 2 and second by 3 would give -6y and +6y hence ELIMINATED!!

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yw
