Write the polynomial 5x^3 + x^5 – 8 + 4x in standard form. x^5 + 5x^3 + 4x – 8 x^3(x^2 + 5) + 4(x – 2) 5x^3 + x5 – 8 + 4x –8 + 4x + 5x^3 + x^5

OpenStudy (bananas1234):

is it c? thats what i got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first one it means looking at the powers they go 5 4 3 2 1 then the number sometimes some powers are missing but the idea is the same so your question is 5 3 1 number

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

Here are some steps you should follow when writing polynomials in standard form :) 1. Write the term with the highest exponent (power) first. 2. Write the terms with lower exponents in descending order (highest -> lowest). 3. Remember that a variable with NO exponent (no power) has an understood exponent of 1 (this was like the magic exponent we talked about earlier) 4. A constant term ( a number with no variable) always goes last.
