Explain plot structure in drama.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Plot structure for drama has a introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and the resolution. Basically a beginning, middle where all the action is, and an end.

1. Rising action: Characters are introduced, the problem or point of tension in the story is revealed, things proceed from there until the 2. Climax: The "big thing"--whatever the story is really about takes place. The fight is fought, the war is won, the painting painted or the song sung. Keep in mind that the climax is never a single moment. 3. Falling action: Loose ends are wrapped up and the story draws to a close. Using Wizard of Oz as an example: Rising action: Dorothy running around the farm, getting caught in the tornado, meeting everyone in OZ, and journeying to the Emerald City. Climax: Defeating the Wicked Witch of the East and finally getting to see the wizard. Falling action: Dorothy wakes up back at home and finds out everything was just a dream. (And you were there, too!)
