MEDAL FOR HELP: Which of the following sets of numbers could be the lengths of the sides of a triangle? A.2, 4, 6 B.4, 8, 2 C.8, 3, 6 D.12, 8, 3 not A or C

OpenStudy (lexi724):

i lied it is C guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lexi724 how do you know?

OpenStudy (lexi724):

triangle inequality theorum

OpenStudy (jack1):

the only special rules I remember are equilateral (a = b = c) or 30, 60, 90 ( 1: 2: sqrt 3 ratio) or isoceles right angle tri (1: 1: sqrt 2 ratio)... none of the above seem to fit these patterns...

OpenStudy (lexi724):

know that the sum of 2 sides is less than (or equal to ) the measure of a third side, then you know that the sides do not make up a triangle.

OpenStudy (jack1):

gotcha, cheers @Lexi724
