What are the key words and phrases that indicate certain operations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@HomeworkHelper099

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what "operations" are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think so..... but dont quite now how to put in words..... @SmoothMath

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's something you can do to two numbers. An example would be addition. Addition is an operation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically any math problem that dosnt have a variable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Eh... kind of correct. Except we can perform operations with variable also. 3+x is still addition.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so every math problem....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"math problem" is a really very broad term. A math problem could be as simple as "What's 2+2?" or as complicated as "How can I launch a rocket and make it land on mars?" A complicated math problem would involve more than one operation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"What's 2+3-1?" is a math problem. There's more than one operation involved.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok i get :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you tell me some other operations besides addition?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhhh.....hehe, um..... 5-6....???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the operation if you do 5-6? is that addition?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no is not addition.... i mean an operation is something you can do to two # and u can - 5 & 6
