@Phi
Which of the following points lie in the solution set to the following system of inequalities? y less than or greater to x - 5 y less than or greater to -x - 4 (1, 10) (-1, 10) (10, 1) (1, -10)
@phi
I have no clue with this one.
less than or greater to ? are you sure it's not \( \le \) ??
what i mean by less than or greater to is less than or equal to srry
it makes me think your previous problem where you chose "none of the above" is really choice c.
?
@phi
why @phi
because nobody would write less than or greater to in a text book (unless it is a really bad text)
no it was my fault the second options is correct this is correct: |dw:1428076833975:dw|
i wrote and i put it in incorrectly that was my fault that is why i corrected myself in the text it says : \[\le this \]
so is this the question \[ y\le x - 5 \\ y \le -x - 4 \] (1, 10) (-1, 10) (10, 1) (1, -10) fist check (1,10) replace x with 1: y <= 1-5 or y <= -4 is 10 (the y value in (1,10) < = -4 . no 10 is bigger. so (1,10) does not work
may we just continue with the question @phi
Yes, I did the first choice, and it did not work. It's your turn to check (-1,10)
second does not work 10 is greater than -6
ok
c works 5 is greater than 1
d does not work 10 is greater than -4, so c is my answer
@phi
ok, but if has to work for both inequalities.
@phi am i right c is correct
oh then c is not correct
a is not right 10 is bigger than -5
b is not right 10 is bigger than -9
the 2nd inequality gives -10 - 4 = -14 1 is not smaller than -14, so c does not work check choice d
(1, -10) notice y is -10 not 10
c is not right 10 is bigger than -11
can you check d?
10 is bigger than 9
can you post your the arithmetic ?
for d @phi so d ?
what do you think
Please show your work for d
\[y \le-1+10=9\]
@phi
we check (1,-10) that means check x=1 in the first inequality y < = x - 5 y <= 1 - 5 ? y <= -4 now look at the 2nd number in (1 , -10) is -10 less than or equal to -4 ?
is -10 degrees colder (less than) -4 degrees ?
now check y<= -x - 4 -10 <= -1 - 5 ? -10 <= -6 ?
less than @phi
@phi you still here please finish this up with me
replace x and y by one of answer choices if statements is right than that is your answer
i did already look at what phi said so the answer is choice d?
btw i'm ot taking long time to repl that's bec of this lag >.<taking too much time to load the page all i can say sorry
\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @phi now check y<= -x - 4 -10 <= -1 - 5 ? -10 <= -6 ? \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) is it right ?? -10 is less than -6 ?? or greater than - 6
less than
okay when you substitute (1,-10) in2 first one \(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @phi we check (1,-10) that means check x=1 in the first inequality y < = x - 5 y <= 1 - 5 ? y <= -4 now look at the 2nd number in (1 , -10) is -10 less than or equal to -4 ? \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) -10 less than or equal to -4 ?? is it right ?
less than
\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @phi now check y<= -x - 4 -10 <= -1 - 5 ? -10 <= -6 ? \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) \[-10 \le -(1) - 4\] -10 <= -5 *
so the second one is the answer
yes.... WHICH ONE IS RIGHT? YOU HAD ME WAITING FOR 38 MINUTES FOR YOU TO COME! IS IT THE SECOND ONE OR NTO
@Nnesha
2nd one |dw:1428081765279:dw|is that statement correct ??
