OpenStudy (preetha):

Great help from OpenStudy's best helpers. With $2 spend per question, why not Ask a Qualified Helper. Hero, Dan815 and Nincompoop waiting to help.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Wohoo! :D

OpenStudy (girlgoyleh.):

why not ask a qualified helper for 2 bucks? i thought openstudy was about helping people, not making money? it should be free

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Help is still there for free. But OpenStudy needs more money to help support the site since we now have a lot more users. "There will always be free helping, but I am hoping that those that can - will persuade your parents to chip in a bit for paid help. Homework Help. Instead of just paying tutors, why not support OpenStudy by paying a leeeeetle bit of expert help?" ~From a wise owl, Preetha

OpenStudy (girlgoyleh.):

Oh okay, thanks for informing me :)

OpenStudy (preetha):

Thanks SmartOne. Love your answer. GirlGoyle, OpenStudy will always have free help. But we need to keep the site running, and it takes money.

hero (hero):

How come Amistre, Jim, and Satellite aren't on the Qualified Helper's list? They're always here and have contributed a great deal to the Mathematics section in particular. Imho, those users should be on the Qualified list by default.

OpenStudy (preetha):

And don't forget, the helpers also get rewards. Think of how many people Dan, Hero, and others have helped.

OpenStudy (preetha):

Its our way of thanking them - just a little.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

@Preetha , I understand the need for revenue, and I agree with your program, but I really think that 2 dollars per question might be a little too much for me to afford... maybe I am not seeing many qualified questions because others have trouble paying the costs

OpenStudy (preetha):

Hero, folks have to sign up to be a QH, like you did. They have to want to participate. And we will keep adding to the list.

OpenStudy (preetha):

Inky, thanks for that feedback - we'll experimenting. Less than a latte?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

@Preetha I honestly don't know what would be considered entirely reasonable... I guess it would be dependent upon demographics... I do understand that there is thin line between not offering enough (such that the system can be used to "do my homework" for a poor helper that's getting paid less than minimum wage) and setting the price so high there is no demand for the service. I guess only time will tell - I would like to add though, that I would happily pay a monthly subscription to OS if the subscription allowed benefits such as filtering questions, ignoring tags by low level users, etc. It's not that I don't want to help these users (I leave my messages and tags available so I can respond to new users), but more often then not I view a question that I am sent a pm or a tag only to realize that the user has spammed the tag or message system, and is not really interested in getting the work done. Either way, I am happy to use the website. I do enjoy the new interface, though I guess the top bar occupies a wee bit too much space. Thank you for reading my comments!

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

Please note that there are many other websites of tutoring, in which students spend more than 2 dollars in order to get help for their homeworks @inkyvoyd

OpenStudy (preetha):

Thanks Inky and thanks Michele. You know I love hearing from you all! And your ideas and thoughts and opinions are important to me. Having said that, yes, we will add better subscriptions - and other things. Glad to hear these suggestions coming from you all!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Im not applying, mainly for personal reasons. Also, it seems that a QH needs to be 'on call' if im in a particular 'free' question thats taking all my time, while someone elses 'paid' question is sitting unanswered; it jsut wouldnt seem that fair to me.
