Are there any answer choices.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Tickets to a local movie were sold at $4.00 for adults and $2.50 for students. If 123 tickets were sold for a total of $472.50, how many adult tickets were sold? show work. Make a set of linear equations. Let x = adults , y = students. 1st eq: total amount of money sold for both adults and students 2nd eq: total # of tickets sold for both students and adults

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

\[4.00x + 2.50y=472.50\]\[x+y=123\]NOw you can either use substitution or elimination method to solve for each number of tickets, and this will tell you how many adult tickets (x) were sold.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

\[4.00x+2.50y=472.50\]\[\color{red}{-2.50x-2.50y=-307.50}\] Add both equations together.\[1.50x +0y=165\]SOlving for x will tell you how many adult tickets were sold.

OMG that you so much your the best

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show me how you did that so i can have an example?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 110?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
