OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

Can someone check my answers in case I got any wrong?

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

I think it is the third one

OpenStudy (rizags):

it is not the third one

OpenStudy (rizags):

how did you get that answer?

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

I thought the way my teacher "explained" it to me, it was.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so.... how did the explanation give -8 then?

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

just look at ehich function satisfies the conditions for x

OpenStudy (rizags):

heres the thing, for f(-2), x=-2. Since -2 is contained in the set -3<x<-1, we have 4x is the solution can you solve it now?

OpenStudy (rizags):

just plug in (-2) for x in the expression 4x, tell me what you get

OpenStudy (inexilewetrust):

Okay, thanks!

OpenStudy (rizags):

yup.

OpenStudy (rizags):

Ok, here it goes, since the number -2 is between -3 and -1, we need to use that rule, 4x, because f(x) is equal to 4x when x is between -3 and -1. Therefore, we simply do this: 4(-2), and get -8, so f(-2)=-8
