What part of the eye does most of the bending of light to produce an image on the retina? The lens The cornea The retina The iris ****i think the answer is the cornea

OpenStudy (matt101):

That's correct! The cornea has the highest index of refraction of any part of the eye and so is very good at focusing light. However, it's refractive power is fixed, which is where the lens comes in. The lens serves to fine-tune the focusing of the light because its own thickness is adjustable. The iris is the coloured part of the eye that adjusts the size of the pupil. Light cannot pass through the iris. The retina is the inner surface of the back of the eye that contains the photoreceptors that detect the incoming light and send this information to the brain.
