Does anyone know the answer to this- g-(-43)=19 i need to know what g is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome to openstudy, both of you, but I'd like to say that giving straight answers is against the rules of this site, just letting you know. you should explain your answer

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

is your function \(-g(-43)=19\)?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

\(- g\color{red}{-}(-43)=19\)

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Ahh,forgot the negative in there. Thanks.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

For starters, multiplying a negative number by another negative number gives you a positive number. ex: \[(-1)(-1) = +1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it isn't negative g

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Ah, ok. So it's \[g-(-43)=19\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

So like I mentioned above, distribute that negative to the -43. What will the left hand side of your function look like then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-24

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

That's right.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

\[g+49=19\]\[g=19-49\]\[g=-24~\checkmark\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks Jhannybean
