What, if any, is the solution of the system x − 3y = –4 and 2x + 10 = 6y? x = 10, y = 5 x = 5, y = 5 x = 1, y = 2 It has no solution.

@misty1212

OpenStudy (anonymous):

change it to \[x-3y=-4\\ 2x-6y=-10\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we have to solve for x?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey

OpenStudy (misty1212):

if you do what @satellite73 wrote, you see that just like the last one the lines are parallel

OpenStudy (misty1212):

the second equation is two times the first one, except that two times \(-4\) is not \(-10\) so again the lines are parallel and there is no solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

give em all a medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is no solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea it is
