MEDAL TO FIRST REPLY TO RANDOM POST!!!!

OpenStudy (perl):

First reply.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, my question was, when do we use radians rather than degrees

OpenStudy (perl):

radians are very useful in calculus when we take derivatives of trig functions. with radians the derivative is much simpler. d/dx sin x = cos x

OpenStudy (perl):

some formulas are simpler when expressed in radians. for example arclength = radius * angle (in radians)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, radians make it easier to put an angle measurement into an equation?

OpenStudy (perl):

some equations become simpler and easier to memorize with radians

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thanks a bunch

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, Thanks so much I've been working on this problem for 30 minutes, you're a lifesaver

OpenStudy (perl):

Also radians are more natural. Why is a full revolution 360 degrees? A full revolution has 2pi radians , that makes more sense because the circumference of a circle is 2pi * 1 in a unit circle

OpenStudy (perl):

Your welcome

OpenStudy (perl):

a unit circle has radius 1
