I have quantitative data and I'm trying to make a frequency table based on my question :How much money do you spend buying groceries? My data is from least to greatest $100,$100,$150,$150,$200,$200,$200,$200,$200, $200,$300 Can someone help me set up this frequency table?
@jim_thompson5910 can you help me please?
Draw a two column table with the left column being value and the right being frequency |dw:1428788465900:dw|
$100 is the first item how many times does it come up?
twice
So we will have this row |dw:1428788566971:dw|
but on a video I watched it confused me because it said if your data was large you had to use intervals and subtract the highest number minus the lowest number (range) or something like that
you use intervals when it comes to grouped frequency tables http://www.mathsisfun.com/data/frequency-distribution-grouped.html normal frequency tables simply list each unique value and how many times that value shows up
okay so for my data I don't need to make a grouped frequency table?
you decide either way, but you can get away with doing a simple frequency distribution
okay, I'm also doing another frequency table.. so for one I'll do a simple and the other I'll make a grouped one.
sure that works
okay i have another question @jim_thompson5910
ok
it's about box plots. my project said I needed at least one box plot. So the question it's based on: How many people are you buying groceries for? My data is 1,1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4,6,6 how can I make a box plot?
what is the median of that data set?
I got 2.5 because there were two numbers in the middle
try again
I see where I messed up it's 2
good

|dw:1428789914673:dw|
|dw:1428789935000:dw|
1
correct, that is the value of Q1 (first quartile)
