Which expresses the inequality x < 2 in interval notation? (∞, 2] (2, ∞) [2, ∞) (∞, 2) Can someone explain this to me? I don't know how to do this!

OpenStudy (welshfella):

first of all the round parentheses ( and ) mean the number next to it is not included in the inequality. The square parentheses [ and ] mean the number is included. ( and ) are always used for the infinity symbol ∞

OpenStudy (welshfella):

here we have < 2 ( less than 2) so it will be (something, 2)

Okay, so D would be the best answer.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

When i looked first I thought it was D but that is not strictly correct as its all numbers less that 2 that should be -∞ ( - infinity) maybe it was a typo

It is, I am sorry.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

no probs

Thanks!
