Explain why most Americans in the 1950s were a part of the Generation of Conformity.
It is not a good question, being entirely anachronistic. Societal roles were what they were. People understood their roles and made significant efforts to support those roles. Society had not defined the ideas of 1) do as you please or 2) I don't have to be responsible or 3) It's my body, I can do what I want with it or 4) As long as it's not hurting anyone, it's okay or 5) If it feels good, do it. It was only AFTER we began to allow these other ideas that the 1950s began to be called the "Generation of Conformity". That's simply unfair to project the attitudes of a later time into the past. It's just wrong to do it.
lmao.. people having being doing as they please since the beginning of time
Disagree: Then I guess the "Generation of Conformity" didn't actually exist. Agree, but Qualify: Some people, sure. I speak of societal norms and the population in general. It has also always been the case that the tiny minority has attempted to masquerade as the vast majority. This might leave the impression that you suggest.
