How many terms are in this polynomial?

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

@sammixboo

OpenStudy (phi):

a term is numbers and or letters multiplied together (it looks like a "word" )

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

so their is two terms

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

OpenStudy (thefluffmuncher):

i have one more question the degree of the polynomial is 2 correct

OpenStudy (phi):

degree is a bit more complicated. you add up the exponents (little numbers in the upper right) of all the variables in a term. you then pick the biggest sum to be the degree

OpenStudy (phi):

for example, in your problem the second term is -3pq p is the same as \(p^1\) i..e its exponent is 1 the q also has exponent 1. added together, we get 2 now we do that same thing for the first term. can you do that ?
