WILL MEDAL- EASY QUESTION I just don't remember what standard form looks like. Please explain or help.Choose the polynomial that is written in standard form. 2x2y2 + 3x4y + 10x6 4x4y2 + 6x3y5 + 10x -3x8y2 + 9x2y + 10x2 -7x6y2 + x3y8 + 10x2

@jdoe0001 so it would be A right ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmm wwhat's the degree of the polynomial in B though?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well... how did you get 5? or 14 for that matter?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

http://www.virtualnerd.com/images/Tutorial/Alg1_7_2_3-diagram_thumb-lg.png <---- notice how to get the degree, add ther "variables" exponents in each term to make it in "standard form" put them in descending order, from left to right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be c then because it goes in defending order from 8 to 2 ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm if "c" is \(\bf -3x^8y^2 + 9x^2y + 10x^2\) what is the degree of each term?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10, 2, and 2 ? right

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

you kinda missed the "y" there \(\bf \Large -3x^8y^2 + 9x^2y^1 + 10x^2\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so 10, 3 and 2 :)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so the 1st term is 8+2 = 10 the 2nd is 2+1 = 3 the last is just 2 so the degree of the terms are 10, 3,2 so they go in descending order from left to right thus is in "standard form"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you! sorry that took so long for me to understand !
